Kicking off 2025, please join us on Friday, January 24, 2025, at McInnis Golf Center in San Rafael for an Environmental Breakfast featuring guest speaker Maria Brown, Superintendent of Cordell Bank and Greater Farallones National Marin Sanctuaries. Reserve early for your spot to hear from this fascinating speaker and enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet beginning at 7:30-9:00 AM.

MCL welcomes Maria Brown, Superintendent at Greater Farallones and Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuaries to focus on the health of the Sanctuary and hear your thoughts on plans for its future. She has served as supervisor of the Greater Farallones sanctuary since 2004 and assumed superintendent duties for Cordell Bank in 2021. Her love of the ocean comes naturally exploring the coast growing up as a San Francisco native. Her many duties include the management of the two sanctuaries focusing on climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies in marine protected areas. In addition to guiding local restoration of critical estuarine habitats, seabird colonies, coastal shoreline and kelp forests, her work includes involvement in response to oil spills and vessel groundings. She collaborates with the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary to reduce ship strikes to endangered and threatened whales.
