Assemblymember Damon Connolly on solving climate and other environmental challenges in California
We are delighted to have Assemblymember Damon Connolly discuss his important work on climate change and environmental policy, and to share his perspective on priorities for Marin from his new vantage point in Sacramento. Damon was elected to the California Assembly last November.
Damon will address a range of topics, including:
- Moving to all-renewable electricity
- Meeting state goals to transition to electric space and water heaters by 2030
- Completing the transition to electric vehicles by 2035
- Supporting carbon farming and other sequestration
- Keeping home insurance rates stable in the face of increasing wildfires
- Making changes to State Route 37 while preserving wetlands.
There will be ample time for audience Q&A.

Assemblymember Connolly’s Committee assignments put him in the thick of future legislative initiatives. He is the Vice-Chair of the Legislative Committee on Climate Change Policy and serves as a member on influential committees: Utilities and Energy, Agriculture, Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials, Judiciary, and Budget.
A Bay Area native, Damon has lived in San Rafael with his wife and their two daughters for twenty-five years. Before opening his own law practice in San Rafael, he was a Supervising Deputy California Attorney General, prosecuting energy companies that gouged ratepayers during the energy crisis of 2000-2001. As a Marin County Supervisor, Damon represented Marin on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, expanding access to public transit and infrastructure for bicyclists and pedestrians. As a San Rafael City Councilmember, he was a founding board member of MCE Clean Energy, serving as its Chair for over three years.
